| Homers Derail Raiders' Season |

Cardinal Ritter and Park Tudor met twice during the regular baseball season with the Panthers coming out on top on both occasions. The outcome did not prove to be any different when they met for the third time in the sectional, much to the dismay of Crusader followers. The game remained scoreless after the first inning until Park Tudor hit back-to-back home runs in the top of the second. The Panthers later added another run to register a 3-0 win advancing into the second round of Class 2A, Sectional 43 at Scecina on Thursday. Park Tudor will advance to the championship with two more victories. It will play the winner of the Triton Central-Scecina Memorial contest. . Sophomore Christopher Eckersley hit a leadoff homer in the second, followed by a home run hit by junior Nolan Smith to make it 2-0. Senior Max Thomas doubled into the outfield and moved to third, eventually scoring when freshman Kevin Rex beat a throw a first base to score Thomas. Raiders threaten to score The Raiders mounted one scoring threat when senior Jon Groth led off the top of the sixth with a single and sophomore Matt Swintz beat a throw to first after a bunt to put two runners on base. After registering two consecutive outs, senior Justin Eller walked to load the bases before junior Jimmy Stumper stuck out to end the inning. Eller hit a lead-off single in the second, but perhaps his most impressive stats of the day came defensively when he threw out three Park Tudor runners at second base.
