Guerin Catholic Suffers First Loss PDF Print E-mail

In their first match of the season, the Guerin Catholic boys tennis team suffered a tough losss at the hands of the host Cathedral Irish 4-1 on Monday.

Their were some highly contested matches starting at number one singles where the Golden Eagles senior Jake Dunbar fell to Cathedral junior Luke Wojtalik 6-2, 6-1 with nearly every game going into deuce point. Cam Metger brought home the lone win for Guerin Catholic in number two singles, that saw a lot of great rallies, with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.

Cathedral's number three singles player Mark Noe defeated Golden Eagles freshman Luke Wiese 6-3, 6-4 in this match between players who had similar playing styles on the court. The Irishi swept the two matches in doubles competiton. Guerin Catholic hosts two matches this week starting on Tuesday, August 21 against Univeristy at 4:30 and plays new rival Marion High School on Wednesday at 5 p.m. We hope to see you at them.
