St. Xavier made their trip from Cincinnati worthwhile by topping Cathedral in overall performance.  CJ Hilliard started out the Bombers with a touchdown and extra point within the first five minutes of the first quarter.  Ryan Frey followed suit with another touchdown at the 2:19 mark, with another extra point the end of the first quarter making it 14-0 St. Xavier.  A field goal started the second quarter bringing the score 17-0.  Aaron Berry nailed another field goal at the 2:31 mark of the second quarter making it 20-0. 

Connor Rice stepped up for Cathedral in the second quarter's  final minute, leading his team on a 10-play drive and a 46-yard pass to Wyatt Wood for a touchdown and extra point.   St. Xavier answered back 23 seconds later with a 61-yard pass that gave Ryan Frey his second touchdown with 4.6 seconds left in the half, leaving the score at the half 27-7.


Cathedral came out strong the second half. The Irish capitalized on a fumble recovery, ending with Connor Rice on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Terry McLauren bringing the score to 27-14.   At the 2:04 mark of the third quarter, Wyatt Wood scored again, ending a seven-play, 69- yard drive making the score 27-21.  CJ Hilliard scored another touchdown with 8:59 remaining in the game. Xavier failed on the  two- point conversion attempt, bringing the score to 33-21.  Cathedral refused to give up and fought till the end when Gino Gillian scored the final points, but the Bombers were able to block the extra point bring the final score to 33-27.
