April McDivitt Schilling is headed to the west coast after turning in her resignation as girls head basketball coach at Roncalli High School.

Her husband Ed, head basketball coach for four years at Park Tudor High School, resigned earlier this week to take a job as an assistant coach with the UCLA and be on the staff with his long-time friend and new head coach former Mr. Basketball Steve Alford.

McDivitt was hired as the Roncalli girls basketball coach last July and she promptly led the Rebels to one step away from the girls Class 4A state championship game after a 24-4 regular season. The 24 wins tied for the second-most in school history. This past season, Roncalli won 14 straight games to put together its longest win streak in 27 years.

"We are very appreciative of all that April has done with our girls' basketball program since she took over last summer," said assistant athletic director David Lauck. "The program as a whole had a great years and the varsity team had a sensational year. We understand fully the opportunity that exists at UCLA for her husband and her family, and we wish them all the best as they relocate to Southern California."
