Rajasthan Royals have officially become the fourth and final team to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs after a crucial victory over the Mumbai Indians in their final league-stage match.

The result confirmed RR’s place in the knockout stage and also ended the playoff hopes of Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. With the top four now finalized, the focus completely shifts towards the IPL 2026 playoffs schedule and knockout matchups.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals posted 205/8 in 20 overs despite losing wickets at regular intervals.

Dhruv Jurel played a key innings of 38 runs off 26 balls to stabilize the middle overs, while Dasun Shanaka accelerated late in the innings with a quick 29 off just 15 deliveries.
Jofra Archer also delivered an explosive cameo lower down the order, smashing 32 runs from only 15 balls to push RR beyond the 200-run mark.

The RR pacer finished with outstanding figures of 3/17 in four overs and controlled the Mumbai Indians chase during crucial phases of the innings. His spell proved to be one of the biggest reasons behind Rajasthan securing the win under pressure.
Nandre Burger and Brijesh Sharma also chipped in with two wickets each to support the bowling attack effectively.

Mumbai Indians Put Up a Fight Despite Defeat
Even though the Mumbai Indians fell short in the chase, they still produced a competitive batting effort after a difficult start.
Suryakumar Yadav led the innings with 60 runs off 42 balls and tried to rebuild after early wickets. Will Jacks also played aggressively with 33 off 18 deliveries, while captain Hardik Pandya added late momentum with a rapid 34 from just 15 balls.

However, regular wickets and Archer’s spell prevented MI from building long partnerships during the chase.

Rajasthan Royals’ qualification officially knocked Punjab Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders out of the IPL 2026 playoff race.

The IPL 2026 playoffs will begin with Qualifier 1 between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans, the two teams that finished first and second in the points table. The match will be played in Dharamsala on May 26.

The winner of Qualifier 1 will directly advance to the IPL 2026 final in Ahmedabad on May 31.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals — the teams finishing third and fourth in the league stage — will face each other in the Eliminator on May 27 in New Chandigarh.
The loser of the Eliminator will be knocked out of the tournament, while the winner will move on to Qualifier 2 on May 29 against the team that loses Qualifier 1.
With only a one-day gap before the final, the winner of Qualifier 2 will then travel to Ahmedabad for the title clash scheduled on May 31.
