Spanning across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, this edition is the largest FIFA World Cup in history and brings together 1,248 elite footballers from around the world.

Every team has finalized its squad, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards selected to compete for football’s biggest prize.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Format

FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the first edition to feature 48 teams. The 48 teams compete in 12 groups of four, with each nation playing three group-stage matches.

After the group stage, the top two teams from every group will qualify automatically for the knockout rounds.

In addition, the eight best third-placed teams will also advance to the Round of 32.

From there, the tournament follows a single-elimination format. As a result, teams must win every knockout match to stay in contention for the title.

The winners then progress through the Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals before reaching the final.

Consequently, teams that make the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final can play up to eight matches during the tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Host Countries

The United States, Canada, and Mexico will host the FIFA World Cup 2026, making it the first tournament jointly hosted by three nations and the first to feature 48 teams.

Meanwhile, Mexico will become the first nation to host men’s FIFA World Cup matches in three different editions.

The tournament will also mark the World Cup’s return to North America for the first time since 1994.

Meanwhile, fans looking for premium experiences can explore FIFA’s official hospitality packages through its approved partners.

Step 2: Join the Virtual Waiting Room

If you are buying tickets during a busy sales phase, FIFA may place you in a virtual waiting room before granting access to the ticket portal.

During this process, you may need to enter a verification code and wait several minutes for your turn. Once FIFA grants access, you can continue to the ticket selection page.

Also, due to high-demand sales periods, wait times can vary depending on traffic.

Avoid refreshing the page or opening multiple browser tabs, as this may affect your place in the queue.

Step 3: Create a FIFA ID

Next, create a FIFA ID if you do not already have one. Use an active email address and complete the verification process.

After that, ensure your personal details match your passport or government-issued identification to avoid ticketing issues later.

Step 4: Check Available Sales Phases

Once your account is ready, review the active ticket sales phase. FIFA releases tickets in stages, and availability may vary by match.

In addition, you can check FIFA’s official resale platform to see if the matches you prefer are sold out.

Step 5: Choose Your Matches

Then, browse the available fixtures and select the matches you want to attend. You can search by team, host city, or stadium.

Before proceeding, review the available seating categories and ticket limits for each purchase.

Step 6: Complete Your Purchase

After selecting your tickets, proceed to checkout and complete the payment through FIFA’s secure payment system.

Make sure you have a valid payment method ready, such as a Visa card or another accepted payment option.

Once the transaction is successful, FIFA will send a confirmation email containing your booking details.

Step 7: Access Your Digital Tickets

Closer to the tournament, FIFA will make tickets available through its official mobile ticketing app.

Finally, sign in using the same FIFA account credentials to access, manage, or transfer your digital match tickets.
