The FIFA World Cup 2026 features 48 national teams, with each nation allowed to name a 26-player squad for the tournament.
Spanning across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, this edition is the largest FIFA World Cup in history and brings together 1,248 elite footballers from around the world.
Every team has finalized its squad, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards selected to compete for football’s biggest prize.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Format
FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the first edition to feature 48 teams. The 48 teams compete in 12 groups of four, with each nation playing three group-stage matches.
After the group stage, the top two teams from every group will qualify automatically for the knockout rounds.
In addition, the eight best third-placed teams will also advance to the Round of 32.
From there, the tournament follows a single-elimination format. As a result, teams must win every knockout match to stay in contention for the title.
The winners then progress through the Round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals before reaching the final.
Consequently, teams that make the FIFA World Cup 2026 Final can play up to eight matches during the tournament.

The United States, Canada, and Mexico will host the FIFA World Cup 2026, making it the first tournament jointly hosted by three nations and the first to feature 48 teams.
The tournament’s 104 matches will be spread across the three host countries. The United States will host 78 matches, while Canada and Mexico will each stage 13 matches.
